Hepatitis G virus (HGV) is a distant relative of the hepatitis C
virus.HGV, also called hepatitis GB virus. It
was discovered in the mid 1990s at the same time as GBV-C and they
are believed to be different strains of the same virus. Sometimes
this is written as HGV/GBV-C.
> It causes Hepatitis G, which is a newly discovered form of
liver inflammation.
Virology-
> GB virus C (GBV-C or hepatitis G virus) is a recently described
flavivirus. Like other members of the Flaviviridae,
GBV-C is a positive-strand RNA virus. Viral RNA encodes a
single long open reading frame (ORF). The GBV-C polyprotein is predicted
to be cleaved into two envelope proteins (E1 and
E2), an RNA helicase, a trypsin-like serine protease,
and an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase.
> Other informations are unknown for this virus like replication,
functioning of viral protein etc. Scientist are
trying to disclose these informations.
